About Prague Yoga

Monica Angelucci, who has been teaching Yoga in the Prague, Czech Republic community for almost 5 years, founded Prague Yoga in 2004. Monica believes that Yoga is not about the poses, rather it is about learning to live presently in every moment, beginning with the body. She believes that the greatest gift one can give is the ability to truly be present with yourself and with the community of people and animals in your life.

Monica is certified as a 200 E-RYT and her Prague Yoga Teacher Training Program is registered through the international Yoga Alliance. A graduate of the 240-hour North Carolina School of Yoga (NCSY), Monica facilitates and takes courses whenever possible with a medley of instructors - her favorite being NCSY director, beloved Chandra Om. Monica has also completed prenatal teacher training and certification with Stephanie Keach at the Asheville Yoga Center, attended a 30-hour Anusara training with Desiree Rumbaugh and a 40-hour Iyengar training with Marcela Mikesova and Kamila Neumannova. She also studied Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga intensively with Patricia Mickelberry, Kathy Hallen and Fran Slavich in North Carolina and Iyengar Yoga with Irmgard Schulte and Marcela Mikesova in Prague. Most recently, she has been taking Svastha Yoga courses with A.G., Indra and Ganesh Mohan - former students of Krishnamacharya.

In addition to her Yoga Certification, Monica has an M.A. in English Literature and B.A.'s in Sociology and English. While studying Yoga, Monica spent four years as Executive Director of the Literacy Council of Wake County - a nonprofit that taught both native and non-native English speaking adults how to read and write for free. This led to Monica teaching Yoga to both adults and children in not-for-profit settings in North Carolina, such as the Women's Center of Wake County, the North Carolina Association of Volunteer Administrators, and the Latin American Resource Center.

Monica's Buddhist name, Karma Shenpen Paldrön, means Radiant Light Benefiting Others. It is her sincere hope that through the practice of meditation and the teaching of Yoga, she will continue to benefit those students passing through or living in Prague. Her greatest gifts are her family and friends - who touch her life in ways they can't imagine...all of her Yoga teachers and students, who constantly grace her classes with their wisdom, love and beauty...and last, but certainly not least, her kind and patient husband Dan, whose loving support has made the dream of Prague Yoga a reality.
